Following the multimedia release of Signals to a Habitable Zone, minimalist electronic, MIDI-free star-wranglers Long Distance Poison have packaged a remix collection that enhances and respects their previous compositions -- while also providing new videos and new compositions. Collaborative artists collaborate; on this slab LDP mingle with Drew McDowell (member of Coil , re-mixologist of Nine Inch Nails), Steve Moore (member of Zombi) and Shawn Parke (who has released remixes for Mirah and Calvin Johnson).
The resulting compositions follow Long Distance Poison’s three-part arc. They evolve from the slow to the ecstatic, creepy crawling to a plummet into scary town. This is minimal haunted house; with icy melodies, and thrilling dance beats LDP and their translators bring to life Long Distance Poison’s long hinted at obsession with slow twinkles and Tangerine Dream.
Also included in this package is a DVD of Matthew Caron’s film for “The Three Voices of Tawûsê Melek” and an exciting, brand-new Long Distance Poison track, “A Passage Above,” with an accompanying film by Caron and Rebecca Gaffney.
